What We Do

We run workshops and seminars at least twice a year, bringing together industry professionals, researchers, and practitioners to explore cutting-edge developments and lessons learned in land rehabilitation. We also develop and foster industry leaders to enhance their progression and understanding of the rehabilitation space.

Our workshops feature:

  • Current research and case studies on topics from native vegetation to water quality control, land stability, and biodiversity enhancement.
  • Field trips to rehabilitated sites for hands-on learning and real-world problem solving.
  • Networking opportunities over catered meals, building connections that drive continuous improvement.

.

Workshops are typically one to two-day events. The two-day programs include a full day of presentations followed by an evening meal and networking, then field visits to rehabilitation sites on day two.

Our Story

SQLRG was founded in 2013 by Col Schiller during a Central Queensland Mine Rehab Group workshop in Rockhampton. Noticing the lack of representation from southern operations, Col proposed forming a dedicated group for Southern Queensland.

With strong support behind the idea, he returned to Toowoomba and approached Rob Loch from Landloch, who generously funded the group’s first meeting. The first event was a success, and the rest, as they say, is history.  From these grassroots beginnings, SQLRG has grown into a vibrant, collaborative network dedicated to advancing best practice in land rehabilitation across Southern Queensland.

Our Impact

Since 2013, SQLRG has become a vital forum for advancing land rehabilitation practices in Southern Queensland. By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, we contribute to better environmental outcomes across the region. Our workshops provide a platform for sharing knowledge, showcasing new and innovative solutions, and building the professional relationships that drive continuous improvement in our field.
